How it's made

Down to earth,
on purpose.

  1. 01

    Thrown

    California stoneware clay, thrown on the wheel one piece at a time. No molds, so no two pieces are exactly alike.

  2. 02

    Fired

    A gas kiln in the back of the studio, glazed in small-batch plaster and ash tones mixed by hand in-house.

  3. 03

    Poured

    Candles are hand-poured in the same room. Soy wax, cotton wicks, trimmed by hand before anything ships.

Hearth and Ash works out of a converted ironworks off Minnesota Street, two blocks from the old Dogpatch shipyards and a five-minute walk from the T-line.
